I am currently researching Private 203178 John Henry Tyler for the (electronic) Loughborough Roll of Honour. I know quite a bit about what he did in WW1. He was with the Leicestershire Regiment and was killed in 1917. It is his previous service which is a bit of an enigma.

He is said to have fought in the 2nd Boer War under Lord Roberts and been awarded a medal. I have searched a number of online databases but have failed to find him so far. He was born in Hallaton, Leicestershire, in the summer of 1880 and later moved to Loughborough.

Any ideas would be most gratefully received.
