Hello Jack,

Thank you for your first post.

There is an entry for H D Watson on the supplementary roll for the 36th Company IY (WO100/136p100). This lists entitlement to the clasps CC, OFS, Tr and SA01.

A note says he was discharged medically unfit from the IY on 8 Oct 01 and transferred or later served in A Division of the SAC with number 2319.

The SAC supplementary roll (WO100/271p273) lists his prior service with the IY and records his entitlement to the additional clasp SA02.

He was born in 1881 in Bromley, Kent. His papers are in the National Archives or online at Find My Past.

Regards
David

Thank you indeed David for the response and content. I have his papers from NA, however couldn't find the "supplementary rolls" you mentioned, indicating entitlement to the medal and clasps. Of course now, can you advise me how to gain a copy of each of the IY and SAC roll pages.....regards jack

Jack,

The medal roll copies can be obtained in one of three ways.

1 and 2. At the National Archives in London, either my a personal visit or by using a researcher to copy them for you.
3. By taking out a subscription to Ancestry.co.uk and downloading/printing off a copy.

There are records for the SA in South Africa, probably in Pretoria.

There are names for UK and SA researchers in the contacts (top menu).

Good luck!
David
