Saxon,

That makes interesting reading. Thank you.

The document only reports 196 deaths in camps whereas the figure is much, much higher than this. Did most of the deaths in camps occur after 1902?

I browsed through a bookshop this morning while my wife was shopping for essentials and I noticed several new (to me) books on the Boer War that were published in Afrikaans. They must be a valuable research resource in giving the views on the war of the Boers and their descendants, especially on the subject of the concentration camps. I suppose their contents are lost to non-South Africans, which is a pity.

Regards
Brett

I think first four tables are just for April and the final table for May but incomplete. That table has been titled provisional statistics, so I wonder if they just wanted to have something to show in time for presentation to parliament in June.

Saxon,

You must be correct. Table 1 says 'ending' and table 2 says 'on'. They make more sense if table 3's 'for the month of' is substituted.

Best wishes
David
