1573 James Slattery of the ILH received the Tr clasp from the ILH. He was discharged 25 Feb 1901.

He had previously served in the Kaffrarian Rifles and earned CC, OFS & Tr.

Morning David,
He jumped out at me immediately, but, did not have correct medal!
You can discount men straight away just by looking at their clasp entitlement, without looking at any papers.
Regards Frank

Frank,

At an initial glance, I thought he was our man too!

I thought it would have been the fellow in the ILI but he was not James, there is, of course, the chance the fellow concerned merely made a "self award" :(

Thank you gentlemen. Currently I do not have a membership to ancestry.com but will need one soon for my research. I was hoping this would be an easy find for your membership since you are specific to the Boer War but I too know what it's like to find multiples with the same name. I also know what its like to find false claimed accomplishments and/or errors in records. I have heard of a military site called fold3 which I will also need to join for my research, perhaps I will find more on him there? The first article I came across stated that he had no family in the US but the Director of the Fort Ontario Historical Site found a second article (different paper) that stated he had a sister in Philadelphia and his body would be buried in the family plot there. Easy to see how finding the correct information is not always so easy.
