Sorry, Chaps - I just can't help myself on this one
Has anyone else observed that of the twenty stalwart lads in the last pic captioned "Border Mounted Rifles", no less than half are wearing Mauser 7mm leather bandoliers? I have seen such on several prior occasions and have often wondered if it was due to a shortage of kit or that the lads felt that the pouches of the Mauser bandoliers better protected the issued rounds. I suppose it could have been a touch of bravado on the part of individuals.
I am very impressed by the clarity of the group photos.

No, just these 12 were in a frame, I just took each row to get a better picture and then pasted them altogether for the post.

Have you tried putting approximate dates on the photos? I think the medal ribbons might provide answers.

Thank you for this post! Please please! I would really like hi res copies of all these pics you have posted here.
I am involved with the Natal Mounted Rifles Museum & History Committee and BMR is one of NMR's antcendent regs. I was up at Himville Museum a few months ago and took phone pics of these photos which are really not great. If I could get good hi res pics from you I would really appreciate it ... it would save me a trip!
