Hello,

I am new to this website and searching for information on Harry Renton.
He was related to my grandmother, a draughtsman, and purported to
have made beautiful illustrated diaries of his Boer War experiences.
This website lists H Renton and HH Renton, both Harry.

Does anyone have details on a Harry Renton? My direct email is

There are only 3 H Rentons on the Boer War rolls:

22939 Tpr H Renton, 11th Imperial Yeomanry. There will be an attestation paper for him. He served throughout the war.
5127 Pte H Renton 2nd West Yorkshire. Returned to England 10 May 1900. There are no service papers for him.
Tpr H H Renton, Major General Elliot's Divisional Intelligence. Went on the serve in the Natal Police.

From looking at the military information on FindMyPast, several Harry Rentons served in the Great War too.

I don't have access to S African records but he married a Johanna Ingram
about that time.

In addition there are cartoons he sketched in the SA War Museum in the Transvaal. The Free State Archives have a request from him for employment in that province in 1907
