The Norman left for England Dec 17 1902, with the following on passage home:

ASC – Major W I S McCormick, Lieutenants F W Wright, W W Herring-Cooper, G B Dartnell, 2/Lieutenants A Herklots, R B de la Motte, Lieutenant & Quartermaster A Munday, W J Kelly and 8 men

There was a civil surgeon in the Boer War called G A Herklots. Any relation? He was from Hampstead: www.angloboerwar.com/forum/17-memorials-...roll-of-honour#61267

Herklots' entry on my IY cd is just "2nd Lt., unattached". Given the entry quoted by David, I think you could make a fair case for his operational service.

Thank you again IL and David.

Yes, Herklots is a researchable surname and I have quite a bit on him already.

Here is a photo of his group. I might well have posted it some time ago but am only now getting down to writing his "story".

I have the full miniatures as well.

Regards

Rory
