My great uncle Thomas Kennar served in the Royal Navy from 1894 until he joined Robert Scott's expedition to Antarctica in 1902. I note that one T Kennar served on HMS Forte during the Boer War but no details of his full christian name or roll number appears on this site.
Can anyone help me with more details of T Kennar who served on HMS Forte please? Thanks, John Kennar

Hi John
Welcome.
There are some 1st class contributers on this site regarding Naval issues, I would be very surprised if you didn't get an answer regarding your request. The good news is the two T Kennar's were both Petty Officers 2nd class which is a good start.
Regards
Dave

Cannot seem to find a first name for PO Kennar , just the initial T.
I am fairly sure it isn't your Great Uncle as his life on the ocean waves is well documented and there is no mention of him having served in the Boer War. I may be wrong but there is no mention regarding HMS Forte pertaining to your Great Uncle.
Thomas Kennar's impressive medal group and potted history can be found under Lot 1247
5th April 2006 Dixon Noonan Web auction. As for the HMS Forte man, I will keep digging, see what I can find.

Sorry to add to the confusion, but I found this on Ancestry. Thomas Kennar his number is 171801.
but looking at this sailors history it seems he didnt serve on HMS Forte.
All good fun!

Thanks Dave. Looking at his RN record of service I cannot really see that he had the service time to serve on HMS Forte and, if he did, I feel sure that that service would be recorded in his record.
