I have a typed letter written by an injured soldier on Tuesday 24 October 1899 at the Wesleyan Chapel, Temporary Hospital, Ladysmith. It gives great detail about the action he was in and the treatment he received at the hospital except that it is not signed. I guess it is virtually impossible to find the writer of such letter?

Alas , it would be a challenge to say the least without a signature. However, if you would like to share the letter with the forum? it may be possible to narrow down the action and the regiments that were present. There could be some clues in the detailed communique you have.

Gordon,

As Dave says, we may be able to narrow it down to a few men. It all depends how many clues are contained in the letter.

Gordon - Sounds interesting. The man may well have been wounded at Talana (20th October) or Elandslaagte (21st October). Like the others I'd be interested to read the letter to see if any clues emerge from it.

I have attached the letter, which is four pages long. It was in a batch of letters sent from Clive Wilson, my research interest, to his mother and siblings. The date of the letter is prior to his attestation and departure to South Africa. Any ideas from members would be appreciated. Many thanks.
