Good Morning
Could anyone tell me whether or not a roll of honour - for those men died or were killed - for the
Lancashire Fusiliers in the Boer War exists?
And if so is it possible to access or obtain a copy?
Many thanks
Chris

There are the reprints of the Natal Field Force Casualty list and the South African Field Force Casualty list which occasionally appear on that famous on-line auction site. Or perhaps some of the bigger medal dealers might have a copy. Sometimes the volumes are hard backed and sometimes soft covered. The lists are not perfect (I doubt any official paper from that long ago IS perfect) - but there really is noting else and I use them whenever I need to.
Regards
IL.

Hi
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to respond - much appreciated.
I have both the soft and hard backed copies of the casualty roll and have checked Ancestry too.
I have the Sudan medal to 4913 Private W. McCormick. 2nd Bn Lancashire Fusiliers.
According to the casualty rolls he was reported MISSING at Spion Kop on 24.1.00.
However, he is on the memorial to the Fusiliers which is on Spion Kop itself as well as the memorial at Bury.
Also the medal roll itself shows 'E. McCORMACK - same number - as killed in action on 24.1.00.
What I was hoping for was that there was a regimental history of the battalion/regiment for the Boer War which might
also contain a roll of names of men killed/died etc.
Many thanks again.

This is a list of the Commonwealth War Graves that I have been updating for the past 6 years.
