We are considering a house move, but it looks like my search criteria may be 'streets away' from what my missus desires!!

Steve - I probably do not need to deter your better half from a move to Mafeking Road in Smethwick but just in case....



Mind, as you can see, there is still standing a building that would have been there not only at the time of the Second Boer War but also the First Boer War.

It is shame that the Council did not see their way to refurbishing and retaining more of the existing housing stock during their redevelopments - what was once No.1 Mafeking Road was only built a few years before the first house I purchased and its small front garden and ornamentation shows it would, with improvement, still have made a good starter home for a young couple setting out on the present day daunting and horrendous path to home ownership.
