I have been searching through my personal library and the books available here trying to find out who commanded the force who crossed the Orange River at Bethulie and later at Aliwal North and if those forces were Free Staters or Transvaalers. I'm heading back to my library now, but wondered if someone could point me in the right direction.

This refers to a later incursion into the Cape and will be very useful later.

I'm looking at specific events between the 2nd and 14th of November. On the 2nd Schoeman crossed the Orange River at Norvalspont, then others crossed at Bethulie a couple of days later and then more at Aliwal North on the 14th.

At the moment I'm having terrible trouble identifying who the latter two groups were.
