I recently looked again at the +/- 2000 names on the Zulu Scouts lists and quickly postponed another attempt to reduce them to a single accurate list. I suspect that I would be even more intimidated by the Indian Army lists. I wonder if David G has lists of the type you have suggested?

While some of the Indian rolls are typed, my experience with the ones that are hand written is that they can be difficult to decipher with the result that it takes a long time to process them. The few hundred Indian troops that took part in Talana were, I remember, troublesome to read and type accurately.
