Mike,

Thank you for your reply and comments, from someone with 40 years collecting experience it is well received.

Hello Paul,
Yes, of course, indeed their presence changes everything, for example, not all that many years ago a GC or a CGM flying were within reach of many very serious collectors, sadly, this is no longer the case.
Regards again Frank.

Would you think that because of "the awful hedge fund managers and speculators" buying for purely financial reasons causes prices to increase.
Purely for the fact that they hold onto them so becoming a rarity when sold or as the years go by "honest" collectors hold onto their own collections.

Regards

Paul :)

All campaign medals these days are very expensive indeed, in fact, I feel they are too expensive, but, the market place has changed over recent years and the prices are forced upwards by the awful hedge fund managers and speculators, this has had a knock on effect that has made its way down to the lower end of the market and effects both the Anglo Boer War and Great War.
It is very sad and whilst I'm not unhappy to think that I bought something for £100 and that same item is now £500, it is still a very unhelpful state of affairs which does not go anyway to encouraging new collectors at the younger end, a great shame.

Good Morning Everyone......

She who must be obeyed made a comment last night that I thought was very good and quite to the point......

Years ago when all or most transactions were from catalogues or lists and snail mail, prices were controlled by the buyers.......

But.....

With the advent of the internet and a world wide market place prices became controlled by sellers who could ask anything and are sure that they could find a buyer somewhere in the world......
