On a different tack but includes an excellent chapter on the Boer War is this recent volume.
Looking for Salutries, Salootries and Veterinary Duffadars.

Hi I recently bought my dad "A History of the 17th Lancers, Duke of Cambridge's Own" by John Fortescue. His grandfather was in the 17th Lancers so he is interested to find out about what they did. However the book doesn't cover 1899-1902. Are there any books that would cover this period and give information about the 17th Lancers role?
Thanks

The book "Our Regiments in South Africa" by Stirling has about two and a half pages on 17L. It gives some idea of area of operations, etc. I had a quick look in Hackett's bibliography and could not see one that specifically dealt with the 17L.
