Frank you are correct that there were so many and the price quite low. However, I kept careful records of my QSA Collection, four volumes of idenitfication for insurance purposes. The absolute most I ever paid for a single or group (non officer) was less than $400 for a Kimberley Medal and the equal amount for a cased Gold Shamrock Irish Yeomanry Tribute and matching QSA. Otherwise you are right in every respect, but with care, some were not so common. And almost no one else collected QSA's.

It may well by the QSA he has had since January which is not on his website today:

Lt TW Trevor SAC - RoM,OFS,T, missing Rhodesia clasp and a KSA. Rhodesia & RoM earned with Rhodesian Rgt. He had £1765 on it. Crazy.

Sincerely hope no one paid even half that.

David, thank you for posting the pics. As usual, I am envious at seeing a sample of all the medals on offer, but the prices asked are depressing. Converting GBP's to ZAR's makes the amounts seem astronomical.

Nothing special about Pte Morris of the KTG as far as I can see.

He served in No I Section, C Company, Beaconsfield Town Guard.

QSA (1), KStar. Last noted at Bonhams Dec 2002

I just don't think they are worth that, they have started to disappear from the market place in recent years, but, they certainly are not rare medals, I wonder how much the dealer concerned actually paid from them before putting them in his stock?

I noted a handsome trio last week to a member of the Kimberley Volunteer Regiment, QSA and Defence of Kimberley clasp, KSA and an engraved Kimberley Star, so the latter, likely to have been the recipients, the asking price at retail was £700, it was eagerly snapped up!
Much rarer, by far, than and in my opinion, certainly rather better than the pair to Morris, of course, cheaper to!

I do remember KTG QSA's taking a leap from £120 or so, to £250 around the centenary of the Anglo Boer War, but, now, quite frankly, in the case of some dealers, sadly, the sky appears to be the limit.
