Barend applied for his ABO medal so if you contact Dewald Nel (via Conacts in the top menu), he will be able to supply a copy, for a fee. The Form will give some biographical details and say where he fought.

Your response (quoted and included below) related to my post that concerns my great grandfather Barend Jacobus van Greunen, has reference.

I contacted Dewald Nel as to enquire with regard to the medal that he (Barend van Greunen) applied for.

He (Dewald Nel) responded as follows:

“Unfortunately, there is only one van Greunen who received an Anglo-Boer War Medal and that is Pieter Johannes van Greunen.

There are a couple of van Greunings, but none with the names Barend Jacobus.

Did the administrator indicate on what basis he contends that a medal was issued to Barend Jacobus van Greunen?”

Can you please indicate on what basis you contend that a medal was issued to Barend Jacobus van Greunen? From what source?

Your feedback in this regard will be appreciated, in order to give feedback to Dewald.
