I found a copy of this newspaper in my collection which includes a few advertisements for recruits wanted for various units. Should I upload these images, and if so, how do I go about it?

Regards
Ian

Ian,

Yes please. They sound very interesting.

To upload an image:

1. Create a digital image file (eg .jpg) from the article using a camera or scanner
2. Ensure the image has dimensions of no more than 800 pixels in either height or width. Any images above this size cannot be uploaded. There are a range of software tools that will allow you to manipulate image sizes.
3. When you are creating your post, note the Add Files button
4. Click on Add files and navigate to the image you want to add
5. Place your cursor in the text of your message where you want the image to appear. Click insert to add the image at that position.
6. You can add up to 8 images to a single post. If you have more than that, you will need to spread them across multiple posts.

If you have any problems, please let me know.

Good luck!
David

Hi David

I now have digital images which have been resized.

A few questions (please note that I'm somewhat technically challenged):

Nos 4 & 5 confuse me a little. Can I only add these images via a forum post under 'New Topic'? In other words, I take it I cannot add them directly to the respective SA units pages?

No.5 "Place your cursor in the text of your message where you want the image to appear. Click insert to add the image at that position." Do you mean hereby that I should simply suggest the respective Unit name/s as a text description? Would you then move them to the Units pages yourself? I have 6 images, 3 for single units and 3 which are doubled up (2 units per image).

Regards
Ian

Hi Ian,

Sorry if I wasn't very clear.

You can only add images to the forum, not to the unit pages. You are able to add comments to the site's pages but not images. It is better, I think, to add the images to an existing or new forum article so that other members can comment and add their own. You might want to start a new thread on joining up adverts or something along those lines?

No 5 relates to where in the forum post you want to add the image. It is possible to add the image as an attachment (like email) which users need to click to view. Alternatively, the image can be placed with the text so that it is immediately visible when the forum post is opened. Most of the images in the forum use this second method.

If you want to add the images to the unit pages (ie outside the forum), you can email them to me an I can add them.

Hope that helps?

Best wishes
David

Thanks David

No problem. I'll attach the images with text in a new forum. If you'd like to attach these images to the unit pages let me know and I'll email them to you as well.

Ian
