Hi
I've contacted 'Covert Ops' and he confirmed that other people already contacted him, and he withdrawn the medal.
He also contacted Michael to sort it out.

They have a good business relationship, so I'm sure they will come to an amicable solution.

Thanks to the vigilance of Ricky and the efficient assistance of Covert Ops, the Police Good Service Medal awarded to P.C. Kunz has been found and can be returned. Obviously, if the path leading to its acquisition by Covert Ops is carefully traced with honest disclosures by all concerned, valuable clues concerning the identity of the thief could emerge - a benefit to both dealers and collectors far outweighing the cost so far incurred.

Sadly Cpl. Thorpe's medals are still missing. All members are thus earnestly requested to please keep a lookout for them. We have seen what an alert person can achieve Lat us hope that it happens again.

I attach a further picture, this time of the reverse sides of Cpl. Thorpe's medals. Note the slight dents on the lower rims. Shortly following the taking of this photo, that on the Queen's was somewhat restored.

I'll obviously keep members informed of any further developments.

It's always sad when medals get stolen under any circumstances, now then, I'm rather confused, when you say the dent on the QSA was "restored" I'd be very interested to know just how that was actually achieved?

Frank,

I have absolutely no idea of how it was done, but when returned by a jeweler, who had worked on the bars, it was somewhat improved.

There is a jeweller in the UK who in addition to fixing clasps is also able to smooth out dings in the rim like this and tone medals.

I am interested to know how it is actually done and the effect it has on any engraving or impressed naming.
