I am currently prepping a post re the activities of the 6th South Aust IB and I recalled seeing your request of some time ago. I finally found it. I see that you were seeking any copyright that may exist over the ABW diary of one "349 Pte F.H.Edwards, 5th South Aust IB". In the book "The War with Johnny Boer" by Chamberlain and Droogleever (ISBN 1-876439-02-5) it is mentioned that the Edwards diary was quoted therein as "courtesy Barracks Museum, Adelaide". If, in the interim since your last post, you have not resolved your query, perhaps the above might help?

Thank you so much, I will approach this organisation and see what they say. If the answer is "no' I don't know what I'll do, as a (long) chapter of part one of my book will go to waste .... I really appreciate that you took the trouble to answer my query. I have many more things I probably need to clear up before I put it (the book) up as an eBook.

If you are interested, you could go to www.amazon.com.au/Bonzer-Thomas-Kermode-...words=bonzer+kermode

then scroll down to see what the 6 parts are about. Actually, I see in my summary that I haven't even mentioned the Boer War, which is now a major part of Part 1, as my interest in the Boer War has grown, so has that section of the book. Also, I must get or borrow a copy of "The War with Johnny Boer". The cover photo is of my Grandfather Thomas Kermode, when he was at Hurdcott Camp in the UK during WW1.

I look forward to seeing your post on the 6th IBC when it comes. I hope it includes a bit re what your particular interest is in the 6th IBC.

I had a quick look at your amazon link and in my opinion, the whole thing would really be of much greater appeal in the Centenary if his ABW experiences could be added. Have you thought about the legal aspect of copyright as it applies in OZ? A time factor applies as well as other factors. I really don't think "Barracks Museum" would knock you back anyway. After all, I suppose you would be crediting them. Perhaps you might just look at the legal aspect.
Some time ago I ran across a QSA to a bloke in the SAIB and with some basic research was able to identify certain things - which led to other certain things - and I think it will be a pretty good story. I will be submitting it soon - after I edit it a bit more.
Again, good luck with your quest ;)
