The memorial consists of two sets of three plaques either side of the west door, and below the great west window, which is also part of the memorial, in Peterborough Cathedral.

TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF
BRAVE MEN, INHABITANTS OF THIS COUNTY AND
OF THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF PETERBOROUGH, WHO
GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR SOVEREIGN AND
COUNTRY DURING THE WAR IN SOUTH AFRICA 1899 TO
1902 THE WESTERN WINDOW OF THIS CATHEDRAL
WAS FILLED WITH STAINED GLASS A.D. 1903.
THEIR NAMES ARE RECORDED ON THESE TABLETS.

Note the reference to "this county." - from 1888 to 1965 Peterborough was in the administrative county of the Soke of Peterborough. Wikipedia says "The Soke of Peterborough is an historic area of England that is traditionally associated with the City and Diocese of Peterborough, but considered part of Northamptonshire." So Is this memorial for the men of this of Peterborough and Northamptonshire, or for the man of Peterborough and the Soke of Peterborough?

* A memorial tablet can be found at Northampton Guildhall with the same wording "Inhabitants of this County, and the neighbourhood of Peterborough," and with the same names inscribed, so they're both for Northamptonshire and Peterborough. [October 2021 edit]
