CLEMENTI-SMITH - Lieutenant Eugene , DSO - 11th Batt. Imperial Yeomanry
Wounded at Harrismith 11th Sept. 1901. Died of wounds and pneumonia 4th Oct. 1901. Born 3 Dec. 1847 at Chigwell, Essex, son of Rev. John Smith and Cecilia Clementi. Had served in the Canadian Artillery (Winnipeg Field Battery, 1871). Served as High Commissioner and JP at Brandon, Manitoba. Helped raise the Manitoba Grenadier Regt and served as Lieut. in N.W. Canada (medal, MID). Returned to England 1890, joined Middlesex Yeomanry. Awarded the DSO in 1901. glosters.tripod.com/BoerC.htm

This is only the second privately made memorial medallion that I have ever seen..... The funny thing is they were both awarded for the same reason..... Rifle Shooting or Rifle Clubs......
