I haven't see a monument such as that before.

I see two medals on his chest. I'll try to get better shots of them when I'm next in the Manchester/Salford area.

That individual is, without any doubt whatsoever, the Cheering Fusilier "Daring in all things" for me, at least, it sums up the British Army in the golden age, prior to 1914, in particular, I do like the use of Home Service Full Dress, very much the mark of Great Britain's red little army, of course, sadly, perhaps for some, certainly one, particularly, it was a contemptible army, envy is a terrible thing.

I have to say I don't much like the apartments in the background, I always feel the monument looks rather out of place now, but, time does not stand still for anyone, I wonder if the cladding on the former was the cheap option, if so, it will doubtless be replaced in due course.

I quite agree about the incongruous location the memorial is in now. I did wonder if it had been moved there for some reason, but apparently not, everything around it has changed.

The statue appears to be exactly the same as the ABW memorial in Bury, which remembers the men of the Lancashire Fusiliers. The sculptor in both Bury and Salford was Sir George James Frampton R.A., and another memorial he designed is that to Edith Cavell, in London.
