Hello Paul
I trust that you are well. I came across your posting on the FS Grave Register and wondered if you might help me/provide guidance. I am researching a somewhat obscure minor action near Colesburg with a friend. We have undertaken several field trips. I wouid like to locate the original grave site location of Capt Alexander F Wallis (West Riding MI) KIA 24 Feb 1900 in vicinity of Kuilfontein/Arundel south of Colesburg and thought that the Cape Grave Register might list the farm name where he is buried. His grave is now in the Colesburg Cemetery (moved there in 1950s I think). So my question is do you have a copy of the Cape Grave Register or do you know where I can find one - I am interested in where the register lists his grave just after the war? By the way I have a copy of the "Register of Soldier's Graves in the Transvaal, Government Printer 1905 (very fragile) if anyone wants extracts. Many thanks and regards Stewart

Hello Stewart
Can you check if you have any reference to:
32755 GNR G. GOULD, R. G. A., W. D
died wounds Helvetia 29 December 1900.
He is in 'In Memorium' by Steve Watt, but no grave is known.
Thanks
Jonathan

Hello Stewart,
I am away until Monday but will check for you then. I have the OFS and Cape registers but not the Transvaal.

Hello Stewart, here is the relevant page from the Register

It appears Captain Wallis was buried in the Colesberg Military Cemetery, at least he was lying there in 1907.

Hi there
No - the only entries in Register of Soldier's Graves ABW, Transvaal Section for Helvetia are Liverpool Reg't.
I will check a few other documents during the next few days. I did quite a bit of research on Helvetia about 35 years ago - had quite a lot of stuff including the court martial documents for Maj Cotton. It will take me a few days to dig this out as I have family visitors staying at present. Maybe we can find a bit more.
Regards Stewart
