Palmer shows "3034 Pte Bingham" (no initial shown) 4th Sherwood Foresters as Killed in Action at Roodeval, 7/6/00. The 4th SF were a Militia unit and the action at Roodeval is mentioned at length in histories of the campaign.
Regards
IL.

My mother recently passed away and in her possessions we have found W.Bingham's medal. Mum's maiden name was Barbara Bingham, and I believe William Bingham was Mum's Great Great Grandfather, although I need to do some more research into the family tree to confirm that.

The inscription on the side on the medal reads '3034 Pth W.Bingham Derby Reg
