Some time ago Clive Stone asked "Does anyone know the date of the unveiling of the monument as l have a newspaper photo of the mounted escort to His Excellency The Governor of Natal for the unveiling"

Several British Newspapers carry a report of a memorial to the Natal Volunteers being unveiled in mid February 1907 in Pietermaritzburg. This one in The Morning Post of 18th February 1907 appears to put the exact date at 16th February 1907 - the 16 is a bit difficult to read on this copy but on the "original" on my computer screen it is definitely 16.

Looking on Google Earth l have located three including one very close to the postcard monument
Is the one in the same garden also a military memorial to the Boer war or another war ? Thanks

Clive I could get two other monuments. One is the Anglo-Zulu War and the other one is at Maritzburg College. See also links to websites.
