...."The announcement has reached Southport of the death, at Ladysmith, on January 6th, of Mr. Ernest Mocatta, son of General Mocatta, and nephew of the late Archdeacon and Mrs. Clarke, of Southport. The Misses Clarke, Hawkshead-street, are cousins, as also are the Rev. Henry Mocatta, principal Clive House School, and Mr. Edward Mocatta, of Bickerton-road, Birkdale. The deceased spent some of his early years in Southport. He went out to South Africa three years ago, and on the outbreak last October joined the Imperial Light Horse. He was killed in the attack on Ladysmith on January 6th."
