Yes!

How fabulous!

I should write to the Museum and offer to remount the medals for them. Do they really have to display them so poorly?

Paul,

The exhibits look excellent. I was impressed by how that chocolate has been preserved too.

Best wishes
David

David,

I agree for such an important exhibit they are displayed poorly, which is a shame because some of the displays are outstanding.
I am sure you would like the job of remounting them :woohoo:

The display of Robertson's medals do seem at odds with the other displays in your picture. Perhaps they left them as they received them?

Should I receive a request from the Museum, I would be up there in no time! :cheer:

Excellent posts, Paul. You certainly know how to arrange a good holiday!

The photo below was taken of a page in the book 'The Siege of Ladysmith in 120 Pictures' by Henry Kisch and published in 1900. The Dick-Cunyngham Memorial had by then only recently been built to replace the grave marker you photographed in the museum display. It is, or was still there a few years ago and untouched by the vandals who infest South Africa.

Regards
Brett
