Good morning Brett,
I've just seen those postcards and they are quite superb as are your own photographs, when were you last there?
The sky is amazing!

Since Spioenkop was such a significant battle, I decided to show some photos taken there a few years ago. Spioenkop is probably one of the best Natal battlefields to visit. It is an eerie place that is virtually unchanged since the day of the battle. There is no human habitation nearby and the monuments have not been vandalised and have been kept in good order. A bonus is that it offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, which, at a distance, looks largely unspoiled.

The photographs were taken about 6 or 7 years ago. Because it is difficult to reach the battlefield on foot, it is relatively safe from the people responsible for most vandalism in this country.
