Many thanks for the additions to the Luxford story. It certainly helps to have well-connected friends on this forum! I wonder in any of the Luxford medals have appeared on the market?

Regards
Brett

Brett,

Luxford's QSA (2) Elandslaagte and DoL was sold by City Coins in Nov 2004.

Reading City Coins catalogue 54, RCL's medal is listed as lot 148. No biographical details were included. A note says family medals were sold in lot 211.

His BSACM is listed on page p114 on the roll. He is Trooper, Natal Troop.

Thank you for the additions to the Luxford record. Hopefully, a Luxford family genealogist will one day find this site and so add some interesting information to the family history.

Several of the Natal Troop were late in applying for their BSACo Medals, so it is possible that Luxford did not receive his medal, or, as in the case of A H Johnson, the medal was issued to a family member after his death.

In City Coins 54, the family medal (Lot 211) was the Natal Rebellion Medal issued to Ivan Luxford, who had been a Trooper in the Umvoti Mounted Rifles.
