These memorials were transcribed many years ago by a friend who passed them on to me when I began my own Boer War project. They had been collected whilst compiling WW1 and WW2 memorial details for a book and were recorded for possible future use - they have certainly been a good starting point for my own work!

Not my area, I'm afraid. Perhaps I need to plan a visit to South Yorkshire...

An interesting set of memorials.

WE Scattergood was in the St John's Ambulance Brigade.

EA Watson: is this an obelisk? I was sent a report for this memorial in 1992 for Canklow. no church name was given but it was noted that it was dis-used, I suspect this is one and the same memorial.

The Manship memorial is at St Helen's, Treeton and is featured on www.treetonweb.co.uk/history/warmem.htm as well as the Roll of Honour website.

The war memorials for Canklow and Brinsworth are at the now disused St Geroge's Church, Brinsworth Lane - don't think there are any Boer War names though.

I can check with my friend who has transcribed all the WW1 and WW2 memorials in the area for his book.
