TOPIC:

A memorial to 1122 Ernest Manship of the Sheffield Corps of the St John Ambulance Brigade.



This memorial was erected by the inhabitants of Treeton in Memory of Ernest Manship who went out from this Parish as a member of the Ambulance Corps, and died of enteric fever

Some 60 men of the StJAB died in South Africa.

I have a photograph of Ernest Manship,I will post it tomorrow.

That's great - its difficult to track down photos of most of the men. A few drawings appear in the press, but there aren't that many of those. I've picked up several mentions of Ernest and would love to know what he looked like.
