After an eventful day, the new site has now been made live. The migration was mostly successful but only a few items outstanding that I can address in the coming days.

One of the problems we will have for a short time is the Internal Server Error message or page timeout. This is caused by the fact that images on the site are stored in a cache for quick retrieval. The first time a page containing images is accessed, the site starts to build the cache but runs out of time before it has finished. The way round this is to keep pressing F5 each time the error appears and, after a few presses, the page will appear. Once the cache has been built, there is no need to rebuilt it (except when the site is updated as it was today). It would be a great help if you could assist me with F5-ing any such pages.

Mmm, I have a found a couple of pages with a high number of images attached eg Canadian Scouts are coming up with some errors which I need to investigate.

I am pleased (relieved?) that the basic functions are all working.

Yes, I'm pleased for you, speaking for myself, I am also very relieved, interestingly I cannot access the site by using the old link saved in my favourites, despite the same web address, anyway, no matter, just deleted it! moreover, the attactments seem to be working okay too!

Not sure why that would be the case as the address has not changed. It is good to know the solution in case others experience the same.
