The upgrade to the site nearly two weeks ago has caused many more issues than I anticipated and certainly a lot more than were evident on a test system. With one user on the test system everything looked good!

This week has seen many small tweaks to the system parameters to ensure it runs optimally. A goal of these configuration changes has also been to prevent the appearance of the internal server error messages.

I have not seen any of these messages in the last day. I am very interested to hear if anyone is experiencing them? If they do appear, an F5 or a few F5s will resolve them.

I was contemplating going back to the old version of the site but now I hope we are out of the woods. I would like to continue to use the current version of the site because of the benefits it offers now and in the future.

Apologies again for the frustration of the last 12 days. I am hoping for smother running ahead.

With best wishes
David

David,

Thanks. No recent glitches. The new format seems to work well (especially the consolidation of recent posts under one title).

I was mulling the type of enquiries that are received from family members and which forum members try to respond to (their responses are often welcomed).

Would it be worth having a subsection on the main site "researching your family members" (or something like it). It could point to the WO 97, 100, 126, 127, 128 series etc? But encouraging them to post an enquiry on the site at the same time?

Thanks for all your efforts and hope you saw the medical 'Talana'coming up in the Lloyd sale at Bonhams on 27 March?!

Justin,

I hadn't seen the Bonhams catalogue so had a very enjoyable read of that. Ah, Assistant Surgeon J Moore's group would be lovely but there too much on offer at present; City Coins, DNW ...

I'll look into the suggestion for changes to the categories.

With thanks again

Back to the sore subject of site stability and I see that the Internal Server errors are continuing.

I am seeking a resolution to these and, if this proves not to be possible, I am planning to revert the site to the old version at the weekend.

With thanks for your patience.

Good morning David,
When it works, which is most of the time, it works very well indeed, but, when it does not, it can be very annoying. :(
Kind regards Frank

Frank,

That sums it up well. I hate that element of uncertainty when I am using the site and need to eradicate that.

I am working on a solution to bring the stability back to the levels previously experienced and at the same time retain the features of the upgraded system.

Kind regards
David
