Good morning. As a new member to the site I was extremely excited to see the excellent C.I.V material you have shared. I am currently in engaged in a project involving the Metropolitan Volunteers 1859-1908 and wondered if it would be possible to talk to you in more depth concerning the C.I.V.
I hope that is possible. Kind regards Darren

Here is one I have not seen before.

Souvenir (?) of a dinner given by Colonel Edis and Officers 20th Middlesex (Artists) Rifle Volunteers to their comrades proceeding on active service with the CIV January 10th 1900. There were 64 possible recipients. Corporal Hugh Castle-Smith gained the QSA with clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal with the CIV. He did not return to the UK in 1900 but gained promotion to 2nd Lieutenant in the Lancashire Fusiliers and was sent to Malta where he eventually became ADC to George White in his role as Governor and to his successors. He transferred to the Suffolk Regiment 1n 1908. In WW1 he served in Egypt with the Staff and gained the 1910 Khedive's Sudan medal with 2 clasps having reached the rank of Lt-Colonel

He died in 1961 and is buried in the Canary Islands.
