A variant of snakes and ladders for the Boer War. The ladders include receipt of the VC, promotions and bravery. The snakes include ambush, lack of provisions, cowardice, being wounded and being captured.

Paul,

I never realised there were so many variants and such variety.

The first looks like a predecessor of L'Attaque (1910) or Stratego (1942) perhaps?

David,

You may well be right. The rules never seem to survive! I have the box and the playing pieces for that game (Tugelia) although the pieces are generic.
