Neville, the rifling looks like its a R hand twist - could they be Mauser bullets? Check if attracted to a magnet.
Here's a .303 by comparison ( Lee Enfield and Lee Metford both are L hand twist).

It is gold-mounted. Certainly the poshest one I've come across so far.
Below is another gold-mounted example, but without a diamond.
