I must protest. See previous page - For the caption under the armoured carriage please read "From Smethwick to Natal". Despite its name, the main factory of the Birmingham Carriage Works was situated in Middlemore Row, Smethwick.

The main factory is where the carriages for Princess Christian Hospital Train were made - the men of Smethwick worked round the clock and the carriages were delivered ahead of schedule.
