Here are pics of the Natal Guide badges. I guess that the smaller brass one is the first type and the bigger, gilt version was the rather better one made by the West Street jeweller. I could be wrong.

Very nice indeed Mike, yes, List Brothers were very famous on the Rand before the war, but, during it, their branch in Durban made some superb pieces for the Natal Volunteers as well as the SAMIF, as did Messr's Wade in Pietermaritzburg.
Very rare indeed, the medals do turn up from time to time, but, the badges never do.
