They were really quite special when compared with the rest of the Imperial Yeomanry!

The way to go here, is a manual search here in Great Britain, WO128 for his service in the 114th IY, then take it to Pretoria, his star is for service with the South African Engineers in German South West Africa in 1914-1915, so there will be a medal card for that, the Great War pair was for service in the famous "South African Scottish" in their 1st Infantry Brigade, which fought in France, so you should expect to find his papers have survived as well as another detailed card for the pair.
A good campaign group, the 1st South African Infantry Brigade were superb and saw some really bitter fighting from July 1916 well into 1918 in France.

Incidentally, I note that there was a Private A McIntosh in B Company of the 4th South African Infantry who served with them at Delville, in July 1916, if it is the same man, you not only have a founder member of the SA Scottish, but, a really superb group.
