I shouldn't worry too much if I were you, you must remember that the press was under government control and even the accounts written at the time are, in effect, sanitised for public consumption, there were far better accounts written years later, but, on occasion, even then, it is so often what has been very deliberately left out, rather than just what you are left with that counts.

Hello. I just want to say that Captain John Richards was my great-grandmothers Brother. Her name was Harriott. She was born at Macmine Castle. Pretty amazing find. Congratulations on expanding your collection. Do you mind me asking how you came upon it? I love learning anything about my family history. I visited Macmine in 2004 and stayed there with the Dunne family (current owner of the ruins). Again, congrats!
