Hi Meurig
Thanks for that, I've already checked there. Probably explains why I can't find anything. Was unaware they destroyed the records of deceased soldiers.

Hello Dan

Ah ok, all is not lost.

Have a read of my two examples of "Research Puzzles:

theangloboerwars.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/...puzzles-fl-hide.html
theangloboerwars.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/...les-fc-froggatt.html

Is this Dragoon named on a memorial?
Did you find him in Soldier's Effects?
The cause of death is usually given in the casualty list printed in The Times newspaper.

Hi Meurig
Thanks for the pointers. An interesting read!
I have now found a pic of a memorial in Primrose Cemetery which has him listed. Also found his date of enlistment on the Soldiers Effects (1892), found his place of birth and I think a fathers name. So now eagerly adding it all together. Think I have also found him on the 1901 census, listed as a student in the 2nd dragoons guards. Died of disease at Elandsfontein.
