If you have a look at the nominal roll for the ILH (available from the earlier link), you will see him listed on the second page of the Es. angloboerwar.com/unit-information/south-...rse?showall=&start=1

The nominal rolls says he joined in Cape Town on 29 Jan 1901 and was discharged 5 Aug 1901.

It was not uncommon for men in the ILH to be given a new regimental number but for most the second number for often 5 digits rather than 4. To have two numbers so close together may indicate an administrative error with, perhaps, two different recruiting stations issuing the same number originally.

He also served as a Private in the Cape Infantry. His entry is on WO100/280p180. This identified his prior service in the 1st ILH.

No additional clasps were gained from the service in the Cape Infantry.
