Hi there, I do not have any information, only that he served for three years and was discharged prior to serving for nz in ww1. I am also trying to find his father who may also have been in the Yorkshire regiment James Priestley James was born in Ireland and came down to Yorkshire with his family .. he vanished from any searchable records and passed away between 1901 census and 1910 leaving his wife Lily son Vincent and daughter maud. They were living in Meadow rd hunslet. this is all I have

Have you thought of checking with NZ records for his WW1 enlistment papers? The reason for doing that is to see if your GF disclosed previous service on his application. That may give you a clue where to look.
Good luck

I don't think your GF served during the South African campaign. The Yorkshire Hussars served in SA as Imperial Yeomanry in 2 Companies of the 3rd IY Battalion - and my nominal roll of the IY does not show a V.H.Priestley (or a V.Priestley) as being a member of either. It is highly possible that your GF served at home in the Yeomanry.
