The Melvilles are certainly a family with an interesting history, and their name lives on in the Lower South Coast of what is now KwaZulu-Natal. Since I developed an interest in the Border Mounted Rifles, I have been pleased to find that, although the regiment no longer exists, there are many medals to the BMR in collections or still with families. I hope that you have success with your search.

Hi Brett,

If you are interested in the Melvilles I have quite a lot of primary information relating to them. The file sizes are too big to put on the forum but if you send me an email I can email them to you.

My email address is:

Cheers,
Nigel

Many thanks, Nigel. I am always interested in learning more about Natal's settler families. I will e-mail you later.
