Hello All - I wanted to briefly introduce myself to the forum members. I am a retired Canadian Police Officer and have been a collector of Victorian (and early WW1 period) British and Canadian full dress uniforms - headdress and edged weapons for 40 years.

I had developed a strong interest in the Boer War period being a history buff and am now trying to educate myself in this new area (for me) of KSA/QSA medal collecting and research!

My recent post for information can confirm my lack of knowledge in this area!

Looking forward to being part of this great and very informative forum!

Kind regards to all .....Bruce Troche

The Anglo Boer War is certainly interesting, old meets new and tragically so many of the important lessons learned were forgotten just a little over a decade later by members of the British Army, notwithstanding, it has been overshadowed by the world wars.

So true - sadly those lessons learned in the field through trial by fire in this conflict never carried over into the early years of WW1.

A very fascinating era to study with long ingrained Victorian military attitudes vs. the reality of modern warfare!

Hello Mike
I have just acquired the QSA without bar to 2150 Tpr DJ Donelly, E troop SAC, and per " No colours, No Drums" he was a Canadian recruit.
Hence my contact with you.
Does the Medal roll reveal whether Donelly was entitled to any bars on the QSA ?
Can you provide any info on this fellow? :( :)
Anxiously awaiting your reply
regards
Evyn
