Greetings Ladies & Gents,

I've been a visitor for quite some time, so thought I have better get around to an introduction. I can see I have a few friends already signed up, so know I'm in good company.

I'm English (a Shropshire lad) but now make my home in the lovely US state of New Mexico. A life-long militaria collectors but these days I find my interests are centered around collecting the Lee-Speed rifles and also the occasional piece of Anglo Boer War insignia. I'm certainly no expert in either, so looking forward to the ride and to learn a little more.

Welcome to the site! There is a lot of expertise here in many aspects of the ABW; you might care to show us some of your collection, insignia, etc.
Some time ago, IL authored a post on this site about a presentation Lee-Speed he once owned and fortunately photographed. It featured an inlaid silver oval on its butt; showing presentation to a chap in the Imperial Yeomanry. Being a commercial rifle identical to the MLE Mk.1*(and acknowledging patents of Speed, Rigby and Westley Richards), it had superbly figured woodwork and rich, deep rust bluing. I shot it on the range and at 200m it grouped very well indeed. I can understand anyone's interest in these beautiful rifles.

Many thanks indeed for the warm welcome. And yes, I will certainly get around to sharing some images in due course. The Lee-Speed sounds wonderful. I only have a small collection - five sporting pattern and a recent purchase of a military/target pattern I'm in the process of importing. No tangible ABW connection to any of them but as they are of the period (or there abouts) can't help but appreciate these beauties.
