Hello,
I'm new to this site
trying to find out about my ggfather.
In civilian life he was a stone mason and family rumour has it he carved a memorial to a royal person during the boer war.
he was from yorkshire if that helps

WO100/157 and WO100/314 show that he served as a Second Corporal with Number 26 Fortress Coy and show his entitlement to both medals, in the case of his QSA, the clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Johannesburg.
After a brief glance at the available folio in respect of papers, nothing jumps out at me sadly.

Thanks for your reply, just another query, were there any royal persons fighting in the war. because if not the rumour is fiction.
