Yes, it is a wonderful thing. Got the man, but still need to find out about the 11th Hussars enlistment.

Oh, BTW, the attachment you had placed in a previous post of a partial "paper or picture" showing "Charlie's" signature, is it possible to send me the whole thing. If so please send to [email protected]

Much appreciated for all your help
Thanks
Robert

I could not see him in WO100 in respect of a well deserved Queens medal, notwithstanding, he was certainly entitled, I shall look in depth later, regarding the wounding, already mentioned, he appears to have been shot in the third finger of the left hand and in his left knee, so all very interesting indeed.
You can forget about prior service in the Cavalry, he was really rather young, which was the reason I wanted to know his birth year, a typical Thomas Atkins would be 1875 or so, 1880 is getting rather late in day, moreover and interestingly, prior to joining the Yeomanry, he was a serving member of the Volunteer Force.

If he served in the 11th Hussars and he could have done, it would have doubtless been a short service engagement after the Anglo Boer War.

Yes, I can send you his papers in due course.

Thank you very much. It is interesting that my dad (Charlie's son) said he had quite a limp. I would imagine he would as his medical papers from WWI said he was buried by a shell and had a severe wound on his left ankle. Combined with the previous shot in the knee it would make anyone limp!
