Hi Frank, interestingly he does have his medal but it was converted into a brooch and uses one of the clasps as a catch at the back. On the rim is as we would expect: 4742 PTE F BRAMHILL ROY SCOTS. Very strange! I haven't seen the 'medal' but was asked if I could find any papers, which I have now done and just about to send off to him. Thanks for your time and input - very helpful indeed.

Regards
Ian

Okay, so we can assume Francis Bramhill received his medal at some point in time, a great shame it has been messed around with, but, still priceless, certainly as far as your friend is concerned, I hope he will look after it, these medals were earned the hard way, the situation in the Transvaal during those final few weeks before Vereeniging was absolutely dire.
